Michael Ward

Lost Crew Engineering
Biography

Michael Ward was born in Galway, County Galway, Ireland in 1887.

Nothing more about him or his service with the Mercantile Marine is known, other than that he served as a fireman in the Engineering Department on board the
Lusitania and he was killed when she was sunk.  He was aged 28 years.  On signing on for the voyage, he gave his address as the David Lewis Hostel, which was on Great George’s Place, Liverpool, and which was obviously a temporary address.

His body was not recovered and identified afterwards and as a result, he is commemorated on the Mercantile Marine Memorial at Tower Hill, London.
