Biography

Harold Williams was born on the 14th July 1887, in Chester, Cheshire, England, the son of William and Eliza Williams of Shire Hall, Chester Castle, Chester, Cheshire.  Harold’s father was the caretaker and hall keeper at the Assizes Court, Chester Castle, and with his position came accommodations for himself and his family within the castle.

Harold served as a second class waiter in the Stewards' Department on board the
Lusitania and he was killed when she was sunk.

His body was never recovered and identified and as a result, he is commemorated on the Mercantile Marine Memorial at Tower Hill, London.  He was aged 27 years.
