Edward Finnegan

Biography

Edward Finnegan was born in Carrickmacross, County Monaghan, Ireland in 1893, the son of Mary Finnegan of Drumakill, Castleblaney, County Monaghan, Ireland. Nothing is known about his father or family.

He served as a trimmer in the Engineering Department on board the Lusitania and he was killed when she was sunk. He was aged 22 years.

His body was never recovered and identified after the disaster, and as he has no known grave, his name is embossed on the Mercantile Marine Memorial at Tower Hill, London. His home address is erroneously stated to have been at “Drimahill”, Castleblayney.
