Biography
Edward Swift was born in Liverpool, Lancashire on the 1st August 1893, the son of James and Mary Swift, and one of nine children. The family home was at 151, Latham Street, Liverpool.
He served as a third cook in the Stewards' Department on board the Lusitania and he did not survive the sinking nor was his body recovered and identified afterwards.
As a result, he is commemorated on the Mercantile Marine Memorial at Tower Hill, London. He was aged 21 years.
