Peter Gavan

Biography

According to the Commonwealth War Graves Commission, Peter Gavan was born in County Mayo, Ireland, in 1877, although no other records pertaining to him can be

identified.

He served as a trimmer in the Engineering Department on board the Lusitania and was killed when she was sunk.

As his body was never recovered and identified after the disaster, his name is embossed on the Mercantile Marine Memorial at Tower Hill, London. He was aged 38 years.
